What is the difference between a two-piece toilet and a one-piece toilet?

1. The main characteristics of a two-piece toilet are a high water level, strong flushing power, relatively low price, and a wide range of styles. Two-piece toilets mainly use a gravity-fed drainage system. Since it is a two-piece toilet, the tank and the bowl are not manufactured together, so the overall quality consistency may vary. The choice of a two-piece toilet is limited by the rough-in distance; if it is significantly less than the rough-in, a wall can be designed at the back. The characteristic of a two-piece toilet is a high water level, which results in strong flushing power, but also generates significant noise, so households that prefer quiet should consider this carefully. On the other hand, one-piece toilets are more stylish in appearance. Because the water level in the tank is lower, more water is needed to ensure proper flushing, and the price is generally higher than for two-piece toilets.
2. Most one-piece toilets are siphon types, producing very little noise during operation. In manufacturing, the tank and bowl are fired together, which results in a lower production yield. Since the water level in one-piece toilets is low, their rough-in distance is generally shorter to increase flushing force. One-piece toilets are not restricted by rough-in distance as long as it is smaller than the house's rough-in. Two-piece toilets, also known as direct flush toilets, have strong flushing power but are noisy. Their tanks and bowls are separate, requiring bolts to connect the bowl and tank during installation.
3. Two-piece toilets are relatively cheap, more complicated to install, and their tanks are prone to damage, but they are less likely to clog, and toilet paper can be directly flushed without needing a side waste bin. One-piece toilets, also called siphon toilets, have the tank and bowl integrated into a single unit. They are easier to install but more expensive and longer than two-piece toilets. One-piece toilets include siphon jet type (mild noise) and siphon spiral type (fast, thorough, low odor, low noise).
The above is an introduction about whether a toilet should be one-piece or two-piece, and the differences between two-piece and one-piece toilets. The choice between a one-piece or two-piece toilet depends on the household’s usage. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages, and these should be understood before purchasing. Furthermore, when using a toilet, do not throw paper scraps or miscellaneous objects into the toilet to flush, as this may cause blockages.
